EU calls on UN states to join anti-Crimean sanctions
MOSCOW, Mar 18 (PRIME) -- The European Council released a statement on Friday, calling on U.N. countries to join the sanctions against Crimea’s accession to Russia.
“The E.U. reiterates that it does not recognize and continues to condemn this violation of international law,” the statement read. “The E.U. remains committed to fully implementing its non-recognition policy, including through restrictive measures. The E.U. calls again on U.N. member states to consider similar non-recognition measures.”
The E.U. order on sanctions against Crimea will last till June 23. Its prolongation is considered separately from the economic sanctions against Russia over the crisis in the east of Ukraine and from the blacklist of Russian and Ukrainian officials.
